create energy together

Posted on: March 28th, 2011 by alyssa miserendino No Comments

it's about that time, & i'm looking to hire a creative, yet very organized part-time studio assistant. finding a connection is key — i thrive on creating, and i'm at a point where a momentum of incredible opportunities have fallen into my lap (including teaching & consulting on interiors). i am looking to share, grow, teach & learn … perhaps you are too?

i am primarily seeking someone who is interested in doing quite a bit of post processing, data entry, research, & assisting on shoots. my work focuses on children's portraits & creative ventures in documenting life. i take on only a handful of very special artful wedding commissions a year. experience & references are a must.

please send a PDF cover letter, resume & 6-8 jpgs of your own work to : studio@alyssamiserendino.com

if i find your submission & thus yourself of interest, i will reach out for a one-on-one interview.

let's create energy together.

bali’s surprise

Posted on: January 13th, 2011 by alyssa miserendino No Comments

we ran into some honeymooners at one of the most beautiful places i've ever been too. black sand, beautiful design & a rocking time in the ocean we are told we shouldn't swim in (yeah right!)

these love birds were surprised with my first underwater session …

one love photo : our wedding photos

Posted on: December 15th, 2010 by alyssa miserendino 1 Comment

conor & i were blessed to have two talented artists capture our wedding day : heather & jon of one love photo. granted conor had little say in the process of selection (no big surprise, huh?) … he is just as tickled as i am to share these with our family & friends who made this day spectacular. please check out one love's website & blog. (note the hassy + music + color combo that had me hooked immediately) in addition to being a photographer, jon is quite the potter & musician.

i've had a pretty blessed year. perhaps it's because i've gotten married to my best friend for the second time, in an industry i never really believed in, which had driven me away from photographing weddings after almost 10 years. yet, i have created some of the most identity driven self portraits of myself through client's love (t h a n k  y o u to the below) – both in love of a partner or child  … or in my personal work. but i get it now. or perhaps i just enjoy knowing myself through this lens. its like a secret i'm not sure how to tell  - but through loving myself more & more, i love my imagery more. and even when i dont know what i'm doing, even better:) i turn 30 in a couple of days & i couldn't be happier. in the most ironic of places, the work i've run so far from in order to do a better job, makes me smile again – who knows, perhaps i'll get to teach a class about it soon (live out loud).

happy birthday & t h a n k  y o u world. i look forward to growing old with you all.

a week ago conor & i returned from our own wedding. while we had already been married for over a year, it was finally time to have a celebration that was true to our heart, sharing together in a quaker ceremony by the ocean … with some of the best people we know. i still get goose bumps thinking about it. the celebration was beyond what i ever imagined … better than i ever imagined. there is much to share & more to come -

but for now the most important part was sharing this day with our family & friends, & the openness of our community which made it so very special. we were even treated with a couple surprises from our dear friends. pure magic … thank you!

and i sat next to each other on a plane about a year ago. we were both leaving chicago & headed towards boston. the night prior, i had only managed to squeeze in 2 hours of sleep because of a deadline – but as the universe would have it, it wasn't time for me to sleep … just yet. i have a tendency to strike up conversations with complete strangers, no matter where i am. yet, despite my sleepiness, again i started talking, and john happened to be a talker too. in addition, john is a self taught photographer & jewelry designer/creator, who a while back worked exclusively with hassleblad film cameras (my favorite!). needless to say, with 20 min to go as we descended, i closed my eyes to drift off for just a bit – smiling – i had found the man who was going to make my husband a wedding ring. i knew only a few people could pull it off. i had the design, and it needed a precise creator, and a lover of mechanics to make it work. a year and a half after the day we got married – conor finally has a wedding ring that he loves!

rachel & brian

crosstown rivals got hitched! i believe this is the most laid back couple i have ever captured. when i arrived, brian was still in his sox t-shirt on the front stoop where he proposed to rachel … and the game, of course, was on in the background. looks like brian's winning streak is on – he got the girl too … all on the same day:)

is whom i spent most of my time with this weekend… as a guest, i always hide my camera in my purse. my father in law put together emily's flowers, & sam's boutonniere. emily has no idea i woke up to this on saturday morning, & caught this for her. i think i may have been voted to take on the tradition in the family, putting together the following generation's flowers. i have a lot to live up to & quite a bit to learn! it was a beautiful day, with lots of smiles & l o t s of dancing all around. it's always nice to take a break from life and enjoy each other… congratulations emily & sam!
