i have been asleep at the blog wheel – but gearing up for the second whirlwind of travel this year for both work & play.

here’s what the second half looks like – if you’re in the neighborhood let me know……

if you’re in nyc in two weeks – & i missed seeing you while i was there in may, let’s have a drink or let me photograph you! i’m headed to the mountains in Connecticut for another shoot, which should be  b e a u t i f u l.

if you happen to be in London in a month, i would be happy to run into you for tea or even a shoot! scheduled are two  u n i q u e  shoots an hour outside of London.

if you’re in Hong Kong beginning of September, well, most likely i may come knocking on your door to see what the art world has been up to on that side. i’f you’re looking for that special piece for your office, home or public space, drop the studio a line studio@alyssamiserendino.com, and let’s meet to discuss what empty space your looking to fill or update.

t h a n k y o u  to the amazing clients I’ve had the joy to work with this year. you have been a continued stream of inspiration & work

silver award in paris

Posted on: June 22nd, 2011 by alyssa miserendino No Comments

i am crying. i guess i didn't realize how much my heart is in this work. i'm incredibly honored. Our World Insideout : Brazil has been awarded a silver in this years px3 competition. i may just be on my way to france soon!

"Px3 asked each judge to use the same criteria when reviewing the photographs: originality, creativity, excellence of execution, and overall impact. The identity of all photographers is not shown during the voting process to insure fairness and the integrity of the competition."

thank you dearly to all of you who supporter me via Kickstarter, & to those from around the US, Central America and all over Brazil that made this possible. my dreams just got bigger, and very much because of you….

Our World Insideout is currently working in conjunction with a Rio based organization, Chiq da Silva, to project the imagery on the side of the most popular squatted government building. The goal is to raise awareness & the necessary funds to finally build the first centralized urban public housing in Rio. In addition the documentary is in it's final stage of subtitling!!! thank you Isabela Alzuguir!

Spread the word. If you'd like to be involved, with the Chicago portion, I am currently looking for a story to cover & submit to two editors. I am excited to work towards awareness & change in my own hometown. Please contact me here if you have a story to share: alyssa@ourworldinsideout.com

one love photo : our wedding photos

Posted on: December 15th, 2010 by alyssa miserendino 1 Comment

conor & i were blessed to have two talented artists capture our wedding day : heather & jon of one love photo. granted conor had little say in the process of selection (no big surprise, huh?) … he is just as tickled as i am to share these with our family & friends who made this day spectacular. please check out one love's website & blog. (note the hassy + music + color combo that had me hooked immediately) in addition to being a photographer, jon is quite the potter & musician.

i've had a pretty blessed year. perhaps it's because i've gotten married to my best friend for the second time, in an industry i never really believed in, which had driven me away from photographing weddings after almost 10 years. yet, i have created some of the most identity driven self portraits of myself through client's love (t h a n k  y o u to the below) – both in love of a partner or child  … or in my personal work. but i get it now. or perhaps i just enjoy knowing myself through this lens. its like a secret i'm not sure how to tell  - but through loving myself more & more, i love my imagery more. and even when i dont know what i'm doing, even better:) i turn 30 in a couple of days & i couldn't be happier. in the most ironic of places, the work i've run so far from in order to do a better job, makes me smile again – who knows, perhaps i'll get to teach a class about it soon (live out loud).

happy birthday & t h a n k  y o u world. i look forward to growing old with you all.

polly{anna}

anna – who i now think of pollyanna when i go through her imagery – is beautifully quiet in her identity. when she told me how nervous she was to be in front of the camera, but loved the outdoors, i immediately knew how she felt. so i chose a hidden spot & we were blessed with a gorgeous afternoon. when i asked if she was aware her hair glows red in the sun, she replied "no, but i always wanted to be a red head."

it's hard to imagine her shyness in viewing these.

i'll never remember my astonishment when i opened my check at the end of that evening. anna who still signs her name pollyanna has the most delicate & incredible handwriting … my astonishment was that she claimed to not be a creative type as we were walking back to our cars. one of the most enjoyable, playful & calm portraiture sessions … what a beautifully quiet soul ms pollyanna is. thank you for a wonderful afternoon!
