another scale of happiness

a few years ago, conor & i spent new years in berlin. as usual, while conor combs the guide books for a place to eat, i always look for the little unique boutiques. my favorites are always paper stores, & conor has learned he can't fight me on this one, otherwise i'll simply be moved to carry even more cards & paper items home. r.s.v.p. is that little place off the beaten path (and here is the best part) with a beautifully  p a r e d  down collection of paper, cards, calendars, & albums from artists (along with a few of the daily staples too). walking in, i was immediatly drawn to the simplicity of one woman's work, su-pyo, both visually & through her tag line that reads "another scale of happiness." i absolutely adore her phrase….

a couple of her intricate drawings with her tag line sits on my office shelves in white frames….

in the last year i have been following her online galleries, and this one by far is one of my favorites : Wandering into the Wall. enjoy!

i can't believe it's mid july, i'm not sure what happened to june, let alone july. in the meantime here's something fun to do for summer … make limoncello! we chose to use organic Meyer lemons from our local co-op, the dill pickle.

You'll need:

1 large container that seals shut, preferably a screw top, and glass.

about 15 lemons

1 large bottle of vodka ( around a 2 litter bottle)

i am a sucker for poloroid. for me poloroid is something to be treasured, and used for that special moment. i own three poloroid cameras & somehow need to find my dad's old sx70, if it's still around in a box somewhere… because the IMPOSSIBLE project just launched new film for the sx70! i've been following them for a while, since poloroid film has been discontinued. their new stuf definitely hits my heart … i adore warm sepia toned images. you can check out more examples like this on their site. there is a limited supply. get it while you can!

doug fogelson is a chicago photographer who may be best know for his multiple exposed images, of grand size. however, he has recently been working on a new project. last night was the closing celebration of Salt Room (Winter on the Moon). at Studio 1020, doug filled a room with 3,000 lbs of salt, & photograms of his salt experiments. being that salt has many healing properties, the room is meant to be interactive. within 20 min of being there, i took a seat on the floor and was amazed that i was able to instantly breath better. it was such a beautiful site with amazing music. i can't even remember who was playing guitar – but it was amazing – i was in heaven – on the moon that is:)

doug also produces  b e a u t i f u l  books through his company front 40 press. check it out. we just added another of his books to our library last night.
